Exit Rate

The percentage of users leaving your site from a specific page. High exit rates on key pages may indicate friction.

Exit Rate vs. Bounce Rate

Exit Rate is the percentage of pageviews that were the last in the session.Bounce Rate is the percentage of sessions that contained only one pageview.

What a high exit rate means

  • On a "Thank You" page: Good! It means they completed the funnel and left.
  • On a Checkout Step 2 page: Bad! It means they got frustrated and abandoned the purchase.
  • On a Blog Post: Neutral. They might have found the answer and left satisfied.

Context is everything. Don't panic about high exit rates on end-of-funnel pages.
